Welcome to the 2011-2012 snow year!

Butte Meadows Hillslider's first meeting of the current snow year was held Wednesday, Oct 12th and our next meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov 9th. Not a member---come and join and enjoy the benefits of being a club member.
Current members please be reminded memberships run from October to October of each year. The new 2011-2012 membership form may be found in the Membership Section in the right column of this webpage, while there, check out all memberships details. So whether you are a new member or old, please print out the membership form, fill it out and mail with your check to the address provided.
While in the membership area you will also see that we have announced our 2012 Poker Run and it is scheduled for Saturday January 28th.
So we are off to a great start and this snow year ----- is forecasted to be supported by another La Nina---- and is predicted to produce extremely heavy snows in our area again. If you need a refresher on what that means, checking out the webpage's slideshow as well as some of our end of season posts will remind you of last year and what HEAVY snows mean for us...... especially check the pics of the Warming Hut Complex.
So the engines are serviced, a new engine is approved, and your volunteer groomers are ready, and we will see you on the trails late in December when the Lassen National Forest is closed by-- Forest Order-- to all wheeled vehicles.
As always the Head Groomer may be contacted by commenting on the latest post. Comments go directly to my email, at home or on the trail, and after reading are either posted or not. If you include your email contact info, your comment will not be posted without your permission!

Groomers will be out Sunday

Both Groomers will be out Sunday with a number of Pro Level snowmobilers in front of us knocking the powder down so we can make headway. We will continue dailey through the week and into the next if necessary, until all trails are in great shape. Our club President has made it clear to us that grooming will continue through the entire month of April. No one has seen this much snow, our trail markers are buried, the Warming Hut Complex is now a buried Igloo complex, but the snows stop Sunday and the fun begins! Please be careful!!!!!!

Groomed Trail "I" today

Both Engines were out today. By the picture at the parking lot restroom area I am sure you understand why we could only do Trail "I" ----6 miles today. The snow was way too deep to tackle Trail "F", let alone anything else---and that was with 6 snowmobiles in front of us knocking it down. The snowmobiles went on to the Warming Complex and reported it is covered, so now I guess we will refer to it as a Warming Igloo Complex. The good news? ---- starting tonight through Sunday three more HEAVY cold storms with the area back to Winter Storm Warnings. Needless to say if we couldn't get it done today plus three new heavy storms on the way, we probably won't try again until Monday or Tuesday of next week. Rest assured once we can get on the trails we will be on them dailey until all are in great shape.......

Groomed Trails "B", "D", "F", and "I" today

Both Groomers were out today. The rain that was forecasted these last several days turned out to be snow. From 2 inches at the parking lot to over four feet at the WARMING HUT (IGLOO?) So it was an unexpected deep powder day for the engines! As Cold storms and Winter Storm Warnings are expected tonight thru Monday AM!... we will return Tuesday. The trails we did today are flat, wide, and very well groomed. The trails we didn't get to today are wide, flat and with 6" to over four feet of powder on them with 3 days of more snow expected. Watch your weather, be safe and enjoy.

Groomed Trails: "I", "G", and "D" today

Both groomers were out today. Last three days all trails have been put in great shape and it was heavy snow at the higher elevations when we left this afternoon. Heavy storm expected Tuesday/Wednesday, so we will be out this coming thursday. Snow depths, as can be seen by the Warming Hut pictures, are unbelievable. (Remember you can click or double click on the pictures to make them larger) Be safe and Enjoy!
